Chairman's Thoughts
by George Schank
Well, "Sno-cone Season" arrived right on schedule
this year; and I hope
your Summer is off to a safe and happy start. This will be my last article
as your Chairman; and I want to tell each of you thanks for two memorable
years. Look for the ballot of officers, for the coming term, in the next
post card mailing. Then affirm your support for those who have graciously
offered to serve as officers for the coming year. Better yet; show your
support by attending as many meetings and activities as you can. I have
volunteered to continue as this year's Program Chairman; and, with your help
and input, I'll be putting together many interesting, informative and
entertaining events that you won't want to miss.
We just had our first special event with the one-day seminar that
Harris Broadcast sponsored for us last week. Our special thanks to Steve
Schott and Dan Sessler for choosing Houston as the first location for their
road show. The event was well attended; especially by members from out of
town, who would otherwise have not been able to attend a chapter function.
I'd like to add another note of thanks to the general managers who allowed
their engineers the time off to attend it. If you missed it, you missed a
real treat. The class time was very informational. The exhibits
were
superb. Thanks Harris!
Coming up in June, look for a special evening meeting at the
National
Weather Service office in League City. We're still firming up a place to
meet for dinner before heading over to their office. But, keep the evening
of June 24th open to come down and see all the newest weather forecasting
technology as well as their broadcast pool facilities. Let your fellow
staff members at your stations know about it; then keep checking this
website for more information.
Ya'll Stay Cool,
George Schank
