Frequency Coordination

The Houston market successfully survived a number of events in the past couple of months that I think demonstrate the need for frequency coordination.

First, we had the opening of the new Baseball Stadium, and its first series of games covered for network broadcast. It was reasonably trouble free so far as I know, including the use of the blimp and all of
our local rf at the same time.

Second in my list was the Shell Houston Open. We had a minor problem with usage of 2ghz paths
on Thursday but got that ironed out and the rest of the weekend was smooth.

Then the BMC Software Bicycle Marathon, came and went. Almost without anyone noticing. Smoooooth.

We have just finished the Resendiz Murder Trial in downtown Houston. Which also went seemingly without a hitch.

Now think just a minute about how any of those events might have progressed differently had they
not been discussed and coordinated in advance. Think about Everyone’s Marti cranking up at the same time. How many other radio stations share frequencies with you?

Frequency coordination can’t always make everyone happy.
We can’t always predict and solve all the problems.
I think that most of you who have had need for coordination services will agree
that it does help to reduce problems before they start.
