HDTV CONTROVERSY
Here is an article about the controversy that has erupted
vis-a-vis
implementation of HDTV. The stations that are already on-the-air, with DTV, are
broadcasting the FCC Mandated 8-VSB system. Sinclair Broadcast has challenged the
standard and wants the industry to broadcast COFDM.
The 70 stations already of the air would
have to convert to COFDM (at an additional cost). The MSTV (Maximum Service
TeleVision) group is opposing the switch.
