Chairman’s Notes . . .

     Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve the chapter as chairman. I hope the coming years will be a time of growth for the chapter and its members.
      I would like to thank George Shank for his leadership of the chapter during the past two years. Also, Danney Stanley deserves a pat on the back for his continued support and work for the chapter.
     Thank you to all that made it to the meeting June 24^th at the National Weather Service in LaMarque. We had a great turnout of about twenty people. The meteorologists on duty gave an excellent presentation of their forecasting tools. I especially enjoyed looking in the server racks, and the demonstration of the Doppler Radar. In addition, they demonstrated how they generate EAS tests and warnings and how the automated weather radio functions. The meteorologists told us the government is working on improving the computer-generated voice so that it can be understood better.
     If you have not renewed your membership for 1999, please do so as soon as you can. The chapter depends on the active membership of all to serve the local broadcast community.
