Membership
Remarks,
By Danney Stanley
It is time for me to give my annual
membership report. We have finished the year
with 85 members , 40 of which are certified. We have had a number of transferred
members leave us for other areas of the country. We have had some members
return to our area from other places, one of which comes to mind came back to us
from an island. Welcome back not only to him but to others who are now active
once again within our chapter.
We also have those who are on our roles who have never been to
any of our meetings.
We would like them to participate whenever they are able. We understand that not
everyone is able to leave work and join us for lunch meetings . . . maybe because we
meet on the Southwest side of town. Work hours vary in late shifts, early shifts and
I'm sure in-between shifts ... that is one reason we try to have as many night meetings
as possible. George Schank has been doing a good job, but probably needs more
input, thoughts from all of us about what kind of meetings we really want and will
support.
If it would help to move our lunch meetings to other parts of town, George can
probably make it happen if folks would just let him know.
Richard Goldy has really been an anchor for us by taking
care of Frequency
Coordination as well as Certification. Don Saenger has always supported and been
there
time and time again throughout the years. Don our hats are off to you, we realize it
is
hard for you to make our meetings.
What lies ahead for our Chapter ? No one can really
answer...but, if it is going
to succeed we/you must be involved. All the Officers are very willing to do the best
job they can, but they are not mind readers. They need to hear your thoughts
and receive information about our chapter. They are very concienscious with
their duties and our chapter is very fortunate to have them.
I have given out SBE Caps for years at our meetings in
order to encourage
not only attendance but also to help spread /advertise SBE in the situations the winner
of the cap wears it. I began this year to write up an article about each winner
wherever possible and hopefully we all feel alittle closer to those members because
we know more about them. It just seems to give us an opportunity to understand
and become more knowledgeable about our fellow members. We all seem to be so busy.
Our chapter has new members that now support our chapter that had
never
joined an SBE Chapter before they joined ours. Help me to make them feel welcome.
I am proud to be a part of your chapter and appreciate the chance to serve
you have given me.
Here's hoping for an even better year next year as we enter it together.
