Certification Report
by Richard Goldy
Well, I have not yet received any requests for
Certification materials as a result of the superlative presentation at our last meeting. I
have to remind you that if I did not persuade some of you to seek certification at that
time
..we may have to do the presentation again. Those of you who attended can
assure those who did not that we do not want to have to have a repetition. Nuff said.
As of June, SBE National reports that there have been
208 new certifications in 1999. Also, that there were 100 exams scheduled for the June
cycle. None in Houston. Recertifications nationally totaled 92, mostly in the
Broadast Engineers, Television category and in Broadcast Technologists. The
Millennium Certification Project that I have been telling your about, brought in 25
applications.
(4 Senior Radio, 5 Senior Television, 8 Television Engineers, 2 Broadcast Engineers,
and 5 Broadcast Technologists). You can see from this list that this project will give you
that opportunity to regain the Level of certification you once had pretty easily. SBE
National added 10 new members to the rolls as a side benefit. There has been a tweak
of the software of the computer disk sample tests. Plans continue for disposing of the
paper versions within the next six months.
Information received from SBE National indicates that the
addition of more exam dates at local chapters is increasing the number of members who seek
certification.
Here is a reminder of the upcoming exam schedules:
