HUMAN EXPOSURE TO RF SIGNALS: 9/2000 COMPLIANCE DEADLINE LOOMS
Most RF transmitters must already be operated in compliance
with the FCC's human exposure to radiofrequency (RF) signal rules.
However, certain "devices, facilities and operations" could
postpone compliance until September 1, 2000. Be sure you are
ready for this final deadline:

RE: LA Screwup
The fact that the Fox affiliate in LA would run the photo
of a reporter from one of the Spanish language stations as
the suspect in a crime does not surprise me at all.
This is a typical example of how many general market
newsrooms operate around the country. A lack of
understanding, or caring about minority issues, whether
Hispanic, African American or Asian. Most of these
newsrooms are run by Anglos who may have never watched a
Spanish language newscast in their life.
It is little surprising that it would happen in Los Angeles
since it is probably the city with the largest Hispanic
population in the country. I guess this just shows how
ignorant many newsroom executives, and staffers are
and why more minorities need to be hired, and apply for
decision making positions in our newsrooms around the
country. On the other side of the coin, All you narrow
minded, tunnel vision GM's, News Directors, and other
general market news people out there that are ignoring your
Spanish language competition (which is probably the case
with Fox L.A) WAKE UP and smell the "cafe"(coffee) You
guys are losing audience to us for a reason, its because
you DON'T GET IT, or you just continue not give a damn.
This incident is just another example. If I were KVEA or
KMEX I would take full advantage of this opportunity to
show the Hispanic community of Los Angeles how apathetic,
uninformed, and uncaring the so called competition is to
them, and why they can better relate to news and
information EN ESPAСOL.

Re: LA reporter framed by his own glossy
A reporter tacky enough to hand out an autographed
glossy photo of himself at the scene of a child's murder
finds the photo popping up on KTTV's evening news - as a
mug shot. Does anybody else appreciate the exquisite irony
of it? It absolutely made my day. It was a very naughty
thing for the folks at KTTV to do, and I would like to
thank them for it.
LA television news may engage in shameless promotion
from time to time. However, I would like to believe that
Paul Moyer, Harold Green, and John Beard have not, as a
general rule, found it necessary or appropriate to cover
crime stories armed with autographed glossy photos of
themselves.

RE: KTTV/KVEA
Why am I not surprised to find reporters in L.A. carrying
around 8x10 glossies to hand out at murder scenes..?.
